Roxanne

Roxanne is constructed from vintage ceiling tin from the Carroll County Arts Council in Maryland. During remodeling the ceiling tin was donated to several artists in the community. The fitted bodice is a combination of several different patterned pieces. The base, formerly and antique lamp base, was chosen for its lovely lace pattern.

The names of my sculptures come to me upon completion, I feel that they whisper their names to me. Each one is totally different. I do not draw them out ahead of time, they develop during the creation. A single piece of metal from my collection starts the process. I hunt through the piles of steel to find a piece that sparks my interest. The bodice takes shape first and that dictates the rest of the form. Their personality is fully developed upon completion, and that is when they divulge their name.
